About Us
About us
When researching and choosing pet care, there is reason for concern. Some dog daycare experiences can be detrimental to the well-being, behavior and training of the dog(s) who attend. For owners who are working hard to teach their dogs basic manners and social skills, an improperly run dog daycare can unravel weeks of work in a single day! At Dogtown Cincinnati, we run a disciplined facility to ensure that all fo your rules are upheld, and that your dog is comfortable.
Megan Gourlie, our owner, knows what busy pet owners want and need because those are the things that she has wanted and needed in the local services she has used in the past.
She and her staff have extensive experience training, handling, and taking care of dogs. If there is a service that a pet owner desires which we do not provide, we are always open to hearing from you, because we are here to fulfil a lack in the industry.
Our market niche is the unmet need for flexible, extended-hours, cageless pet care. Pet owners working or living near downtown Cincinnati who desire flexible, high-end pet care at affordable prices will love Dogtown Cincinnati.

Dogtown Cincinnati was designed by Megan Gourlie, a true dog lover who was raised with many high-energy dogs.
She matches the description of many of the downtown professionals which this business serves, which is why she knows what pet owners want. After a particularly challenging adoption of an adult dog with behavioral problems and separation anxiety, she has overcome many more obstacles than the average dog parent.
How Are We Different?
We are different than other similar facilities in many ways. Our owner insists on honest open communication and ideal pet services based on what she wants for her own dogs. We are also totally cage-free for all services. Also, unlike other dog daycares, we operate on a hands-on basis. That means humans not only watch the dogs, they also interact and play games with them to create a fun, home-like environment.
Understanding Our cage-free philosophy
Our number one goal for your dogs is comfort, and we built the business with a cage-free philosophy. That means your dog will not ever be in a kennel and will always be supervised by a human—even over night. Our handlers are specifically trained to recognize and remedy any shyness, stress, hesitation, aggression, fear, or other issues that dogs may have.
Our open communication philosophy
When your dog shows signs of being uncomfortable in the pack environment, we make you aware of such problems and inform you of the steps we are taking and progress we are making in dealing with your dog’s issues. We also have a mellow TV room for such dogs to relax and work with smaller, calmer groups to help them with their transition.
Our commitment to flexibility in our services
Flexibility is among our top priorities. Dogtown Cincinnati does everything possible to create a flexible service. We not only allow 24 hour drop-off and pick-ups, we also will not charge you if you need to go in early, or stay late at work periodically. We know what it’s like to have deadlines, to travel for business, and to work off hours. We understand that at times, doctors may work 30-hour rotations, or business people may need to leave the state suddenly. Our flexible services will cater to unique situations when they arise.
24 hour drop-off and pick ups.
Dogtown Cincinnati allows for 24 hour drop off and pick-ups. However, during late hours, we will need you to call before you come so that we can let you in. Because we do not need to staff our front desk 100% at night and to keep employees and pets safe, we lock our entrance doors after dark and require a phone call before you arrive.
Our potty-training philosophy: How we uphold the rules of your house
One of our biggest commitments to you is this: At Dogtown Cincinnati, we do not allow defecating or marking of any kind inside of our building. This goes back to our cleanliness policy. Dogs will not be allowed to do anything they wouldn’t be allowed to do at home, and will be taken outside to relieve themselves.
Our commitment to understanding your dogs and their routines
We want to know everything about your dogs and their routines. We include a questionnaire with our welcome application about your dogs so that we know fully know their histories to the best of your knowledge. We want to keep your dogs’ feeding routine consistent as well. Our ultimate goal with this is to have a detailed understanding of your dogs’ behavior, needs, and routines.
Call ahead for all services to avoid bringing your dog to a full facility!
If you’re not a member, we recommend that you give us 24 hours of advanced notice before bringing your dog in. Additionally, you can call or email us before leaving your house to secure a spot at our daycare for that day. We can only accommodate a few walk-ins per day due to staffing ratios. The last thing we want to do is turn you away.
Web cameras
Web cameras are a fun part of daycare. When you are sitting at your desk at work, you can log in and check out what your dog is up to. It’s a fun way to see how your dog is doing and can also put a smile on your face when you see your dog having fun! Webcams will be incorporated later.
When do we ban dogs from daycare?
Quite simply, we will ban your dog if he becomes a safety risk. Dogs that are aggressive, obnoxious, territorial, or overly fearful may be banned from our services. Owners can undo a ban by signing their dog up for one of our extensive individual training programs. If the dog passes evaluations by our trainers, he will be given another chance. After that, a second banning is for the life of your dog. Dogtown Cincinnati reserves the right to ban a dog for any reason whatsoever.
Evening or daytime daycare!
New to Cincinnati, we offer evening daycare. Now there is a place for people with second shift jobs to take their pets for fun, exercise, and socialization. Evening daycare will overlap daytime daycare by several hours and each group will have separate energy levels and will therefore be separated. There is no difference between evening and daytime daycare, except for the times your show up!
Cage-free boarding
Cage free boarding is a wonderful advantage to boarding at Dogtown Cincinnati. We go beyond your expectations to make your dog tired and comfortable. We use cozy pet furniture, blankets, and toys. Your dog will eat separate from other dogs to keep him safe and will sleep with a pack of other dogs in a suite set up like a home. He will feel secure, and will always have the presence of a human care giver.
Outing care: Let your dog play while you come downtown to play!
Outing care is another cool feature that Dogtown Cincinnati offers. Maybe you’ve worked all day long and have after-work plans to go downtown to the theatre. You feel guilty because your dog deserves a jog or a trip to the dog park. With our outing care program, you no longer have to feel guilty. Your dog needs and deserves the exercise, so why not bring him along and drop him off at Dogtown Cincinnati for his own evening of fun?
Welcome to our family!
